About the Artist

I’ve been painting for over 30 years, drawn again and again to the quiet beauty of landscapes and coastal scenes. My work, primarily in watercolor and acrylic, is inspired by the surrounding shoreline, changing light, and the subtle rhythms of land and sea.

I earned my degree in Fine Arts and Art Education from UMass Amherst in 1994 and spent much of my career teaching elementary art and state pre-K. While teaching allowed me to nurture creativity in others, painting remained a constant. Recently, I made the decision to step away from the classroom to dedicate my time fully to painting and building my art studio.

Much of my work begins through direct observation; watching how light moves across water, how color shifts with the weather, and how familiar places feel different from one moment to the next. Rather than striving for perfect detail, I focus on atmosphere, movement, and a sense of place.

Deeply influenced by coastal New England, I return often to beaches, harbors, rivers, and quiet stretches of shoreline. These places become visual memories, layered with time, experience, and emotion. My goal is to create paintings that feel peaceful, familiar, and grounded.

Thank you for visiting my studio and supporting original art.
